The CONFIDES project will carry out a citizen consultation at the Botanical Garden of the University of Valencia, involving around 100 participants representing the diversity of Spanish society in terms of culture, gender, and educational background. Participants will be selected from a database created and stored in compliance with data protection regulations and access rules for microdata generated in projects led by the institution, ensuring the reproducibility and reusability of the European project CONCISE.

The aim is to conduct a consultation on two of the same topics addressed in 2019 —climate change and vaccines— to compare shifts in public perception, particularly considering the rise of misinformation, conspiracy theories, and disinformation following the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, a new topic of analysis has been introduced to assess citizens’ trust and perceptions regarding artificial intelligence (AI).

The consultation will be conducted through focus groups, generating a large corpus of transcripts that can be analysed using linguistic corpus software, allowing for comparison of data before and after the pandemic.
